Traditionally we try to ruff in the short trump side, keeping our long trump to use to draw the opponents' trump. But sometimes we are forced to ruff in the long trump side. If we do this enough then we may turn the "short side" into the "long side". This line of play is called a dummy reversal and is an option that we should consider, especially when the opponents force us to ruff in the long side early in the hand!
